The Eagle Harbor Lighthouse Complex contains four different museums.

ANNOUNCEMENTS -- This is a test web site designed only to be seen by KCHS Board members. It is based on the existing KCHS web site, uses the much of the same content as the existing site but has major technical and design changes and additional content. All of the KCHS Museums are closed for the 2013 season. We will post the 2014 schedule of activities in the spring.

Posted July 18, 2013: The KCHS has released the complete schedule of events for the Grand Opening of the Eagle Harbor Life-Saving Station to be held on July19-20, 2013. Click here to get a complete description of all of the events. Here is a short summary:

Gold Medal Heroes of the Shipwreck of the L. C. Waldo
A slide presentation by Maritime Historian Mark Rowe on the November 1913 shipwreck of the L.C. Waldo. This presentation includes an introduction of the descendants of the life-saving crews and the crew of the L.C. Waldo.

Grand Opening of Life Saving Museum at Eagle Harbor

Posted July 3, 2013: Society sponsors the Grand Opening of the Eagle Harbor Life-Saving Museum.The KCHS is proud to sponsor the Grand Opening of the Eagle HarborLife-Saving Life-Saving Museum on Saturday, July 20, 2013 from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM at the Museum at the end of marina Road in Eagle Harbor. The Museum tells the story of the various crews of the Eagle Harbor Life Saving Station who risked their lives saving others and lived by the motto of the U.S. Life Saving Service "You have to go out but you don't have to come back". The Grand Opening will feature free Guided Tours, Refreshments, Music, the Mock Firing of a Lyle Gun (used as part of rescue operations) , presentations by speakers, and the unveiling of our restored surfboat. A dedication service wil take place at 2:00 PM. There will be a Fishboil from 3:00 – 6:00 PM for a fee of $10.00. Posted July 3, 2013: The 6th annual Music Fest will be held in Gay, MI Gay Schoolat the School on Saturday, July 6, 2013, from 4 - 8 P.M. The event, sponsored by the Keweenaw County Historical Society, is a benefit for the restoration and preservation of the "Historic" school at Gay which was in operation from 1927-1961. Future plans for the school include a classroom, local history museum and meeting room. Performers for the concert will include the Singin' Sheriff Ron Lahti and Joe Kezele, The Dodge Street Band-Classic Rock , The Wing Nuts, and Andrea daVinci Braun. A concession stand will be available as well as an auction with local items. Lawn seating is available. Please bring a chair or blanket for your convenience.
